Camper Skills Guide

We would love to meet your child at camp. Please have a read of the skills that your child will need to be able to help them participate in the camp.

If your child has difficulty in any of the areas listed, please contact us to organise to speak with our Camp Director before submitting the camper application.

5-6 Year Olds (attend camp from 9:30am – 2:30pm each day)

  • Minimal assistance required for toileting (e.g., daytime continent with structured bathroom breaks)
  • Have the endurance to get through a 5-hour program each day
  • Able to communicate his/her basic needs to a caregiver through verbal, nonverbal or assistive and augmentative communication.
  • Able to participate in small group activities such as farm-based activities, tadpole fishing, low ropes with support (e.g., visual supports structured daily routine).

7-8 Year Olds (attend camp from 9:00am – 2:30pm each day)

  • Minimal assistance required for toileting (e.g., daytime continent with structured bathroom breaks)
  • Have the endurance to get through a 5-hour program each day
  • Able to communicate his/her basic needs to a caregiver through verbal, nonverbal or assistive and augmentative communication.
  • Able to participate in small group activities such as farm-based activities, bushwalk, low ropes with support (e.g., visual supports structured daily routine).

8-9 Year Olds (attend camp 9:00am – 3:00pm each day)

  • Independent in toileting, (reminders to go regularly provided).
  • Have the endurance to get through a 6-hour program each day
  • Able to communicate his/her basic needs to a caregiver through verbal, nonverbal or assistive and augmentative communication.
  • Able to participate in small group adventure experiences with support

10-12 Year Olds (attend camp 9am-3:00pm each day)

  • Independent in toileting
  • Have the endurance to get through a 6-hour program each day
  • Able to communicate his/her basic needs to a caregiver through verbal, nonverbal or assistive and augmentative communication.
  • Able to participate in small group adventure experiences and social interaction with support.

If your child has any behaviours of concern, please make us aware of this in your camper application or call to speak to our Camp Director prior to your application. We can support children who have a behaviour support plan in place that we can use to guide our support of your child and the wellbeing of all campers throughout camp.
